An asphalt paving project involves several steps and requires a systematic approach to ensure its effectiveness and durability. Here are the main elements needed to develop an asphalt paving project:

Topographic Survey:

Conduct a detailed topographic survey of the area to understand the topography, slopes and other features that may affect the paving design.

Geotechnical Analysis:
Perform a geotechnical analysis to assess the bearing capacity of the soil. This is crucial to determining the base and sub-base layers required for the  paving. With the results of the surveys and presentation of the Number “N” of repetitions of the standard axis, we will be able to know how to design the pavement structure to be used in the project area. The project will present the areas to be paved, as well as its structure containing the base, sub-base and necessary reinforcements, calculation memory and mechanistic verification through specific software. In addition, the project will include a descriptive and calculation report.

Traffic Study:
Analyze traffic patterns to determine the volume and type of vehicles that will use the road. This information is essential to correctly size the paving.

Structural Design:
Develop a structural design that includes the appropriate thickness of the base, subbase, and asphalt overlay. Consider anticipated load and local weather conditions.

Drainage:
Design an efficient drainage system to avoid problems such as water accumulation, which can compromise the stability of the paving. This includes the installation of gutters, storm drains and other devices.

Material Selection:
Choose the appropriate materials for each layer of paving, including the type of asphalt to be used. Consider traffic resistance, weather conditions and durability.

Budget and Financial Planning:
Estimate project costs, including materials, labor,
equipment and general expenses. Develop a financial plan to ensure there are sufficient resources to carry out the project.

Geometric Projects

We carry out a detailed analysis of the surroundings, considering factors such as urban development, residential and commercial areas and the presence of other accesses nearby. Understand local demands and existing traffic patterns.

Traffic Study:
We conducted our traffic study by evaluating volume,
composition and movement patterns of vehicles in the area. This information will guide the appropriate dimensioning of the access, including the number of lanes, widths and curvature radii.


Capacity Assessment:
Calculation of expected access capacity based on traffic forecasts. This will influence the sizing of elements such as acceleration and deceleration lanes, ensuring traffic fluidity.

Horizontal Geometry:
Development of horizontal geometry, considering the visibility curve, curvature radii and smooth transitions between tangents and curves, always ensuring that the layout provides a safe transition between the main road and access, using project vehicles
and simulated using specific software.


Vertical Geometry:
Vertical geometry design, including longitudinal profile and slope of the access lane, ensuring that the profile allows a smooth transition between different levels and meets accessibility and safety standards.
 

Acceleration and Deceleration Ranges:

Additional lane intended for changing speed, whose objectives are: to allow the vehicle when entering the main road to reach a compatible speed and to allow vehicles on the main road to adjust their operation for the vehicles to enter the traffic flow.

Deceleration Range
:

Additional lane intended for changing speed, whose objectives are: to allow the vehicle leaving the main road to reach a speed compatible with the characteristics of the access and consequently the local road without interfering with the operation of vehicles upstream of the traffic flow.

with safe extensions, within the standards, adjusted to the bandstand tapers, necessary to facilitate the safe entry and exit of vehicles. Consider the speed of the main road and typical driver behavior.
